Our India's Experiences
Aranmula Kannadi – The metal mirror of India
Mysterious in its creation and unequalled in its beauty, the Aranmula Kannadi is a unique object – a mirror made of metal, not glass! Therein lies its uniqueness, and its creation, a closely guarded secret known to a few families, has been handed down from father to son for generations. The metal mirror, a marvel in the annals of metallurgy, was in vogue long before the appearance of today’s glass mirror was in use in far-off Egypt and Baghdad.
A trip to Aranmula, the small village in south India, is an eye opener in which you learn how hands create this magic mirror!
Gurdwara langar – All are equal
In Sikhism, langar is the community kitchen of a gurdwara that serves meals free of charge, regardless of religion, caste, gender, economic status, or ethnicity. People sit on the floor and eat together, and the kitchen is maintained and serviced by volunteers. The meals served at langar are always vegetarian. The tradition of langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness, and oneness of all humankind. Visit the Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple at Amritsar, and thereafter partake of the langar for a special community dining experience.
Theyyam dance – Thousand-year-old traditions, rituals, and customs
When it comes to Kerala, it is the Kathakali dance form that takes centre stage. However, there is another equally ancient ritual dance that you can enjoy – Theyyam. Theyyam season starts in October/November and lasts seven months. The season winds up by the end of May every year. There is no stage or curtain for the performance. Devotees stand or sit around a sacred tree in front of the shrine.
Performance can continue for 12 to 24 hours at intervals.
The busy streets of cities in stark contrast to the country’s
The earliest record of this stepwell comes from the 14th century. Agrasen Ki Baoli is 60 metres long and 15 metres wide and divided into three levels. Situated right in the heart of the central business district of Connaught Place, this place is an architectural marvel.
Nepal
From enjoying the perfect sunrise from the top of the hill to finding peace in the temple walls, Nepal is the ideal destination to pause and relax. The local life is yet another unique experience, where savouring traditional food and enjoying a day with the tribe are rare moments to rejoice.
Our Nepal's Experiences
Honey Hunters – The Gurungs of Nepal
The Gurung tribe of Nepal has been collecting honey from Himalayan cliffs for centuries. These honey hunters risk their lives collecting honeycombs in the foothills of the Himalayas, using nothing more than handmade rope ladders and long sticks. Most honey bees’ nests are located on steep, inaccessible cliffs, and climbing them is quite a job! To accompany the Gurung on a honey hunt is an experience of a lifetime.
While they do the climbing and collecting, you get the thrills and memories to last you a lifetime.
Kumari – The living Goddess
Among the Newars of Nepal, the worship of little girls as living goddesses – Kumari – is part of their culture. Kumaris are believed to be clairvoyant with the ability to cure the sick, especially those suffering from blood disorders. They can also fulfill specific wishes and protect and bring prosperity to the community.
Newari Cuisine – A Himalayan spread
Newars are renowned for their sumptuous feasting, with a cuisine that has developed over centuries. Newari food combines the influences of different cultures with local vegetables, lentils, dairy products, and meat.
Bhutan

Our Bhutan's Experiences
Hot Stone Bath – Relaxation of another kind
The hot stone bath dates back centuries. It uses rocks taken from the river that are heated till red hot and then placed in the bath water. The rocks then crack and steam, releasing minerals into the water that alleviate aches and pains. It is the best therapy that is ideal after hiking in the mountains.
Point and Shoot – Archery, the national sport
Archery is the national sport of Bhutan, and no festival is complete without traditional archery contests. A trip to Bhutan and watching these amazing competitions is quite an experience. Every town and village has its full-length archery field. Why not try your hand at archery when in Bhutan?
Bhutanese Homestay – No place better than home
Get to know the people and their culture by sharing their lives. A homestay break in Bhutan is just that. Enjoy a home-cooked dinner and experience traditional Bhutanese village life. You may even be asked to help with chores or some light work on the farm. Remember that facilities are basic, but the memories are worth their weight in gold!
